Arel joined Prince George’s County in their mission to create a public safety corridor with new Fire and EMS Stations. Fire Station 802 embraces fire as a feature of protection and beauty. The design was a community effort, with close collaboration between the county and local builders. With a brand new, fully operational station of proximity, the county continues to push for a comprehensive public safety corridor. This new station for Prince George’s County serves the communities of Capitol Heights, District Heights, Seat Pleasant, Walker Mill, Bowie, and Upper Marlboro. Taking inspiration from local fire stations, our mid-century modern building combines the low maintenance essence of a traditional station with smart design elements that speed up response time. The structure comprises two masses: a high apparatus bay with metal paneling, and an office and living quarters wrapped in brick.

Arel worked closely with the fire department to efficiently incorporate training facilities. This project includes a 14,000 square feet candidate physical ability testing center and a public community room for events.
